My Background

Hi I'm Lauren and I'm a Play Therapist. I was a teacher for 8 years before I decided to pursue Play Therapy. Before that I worked for the Institute of Education on research projects aiming to understand neurotypical and atypical development in children.

My experience helps me to see the neuroscience behind the processes at work when children bravely face their barriers and work towards being happier and healthier, building resilience and self-worth to cope with the challenges they face in their daily lives.

My Approach

It is often the strength of the therapeutic relationship journey which defines the progress a child makes on their journey in therapy. Therefore I create a safe and friendly environment in which each child feels accepted and understood. I take time to build a trusting and honest relationship with parents too.

Training and Qualifications

I trained with APAC (the Academy of Play and Child Psychotherapy) to complete the Post Graduate Certificate in Therapeutic Play Skills and the Diploma in Play Therapy, both achieved with Distinction, and I am a member of PTUK (Play Therapy UK). I have a degree in Psychology and a PGCE with Early Years specialism. I continue to spend as much time as I can immersed in the changing landscape of theories and research within the professional understanding of child psychology.

Play Therapists undergo regular supervision with a PTUK accredited supervisor, a range of CPD and adhere to the strict clinical governance and ethical guidelines of their professional body (PTUK). I have a current DBS check, which is renewed regularly via the automatic update service.

I am also a qualified Clinical Supervisor for PTUK trainees and qualified therapists. If you are seeking clinical supervision and are located within driving distance of either my Lutterworth or Anstey venue please get in touch (trainees must have face to face supervision while qualified therapists can receive supervision online.
